AC Milan keeper Dida receives two-match ban
October 12th 2007 05:45
AC Milan's play acting 'genius' Dida received a two-match ban from UEFA for his ludicrous theatrics in last week's controversial Champions League match again Scottish side Celtic.
Dida was found to have breached UEFA's 'principles of loyalty, integrity and sportsmanship' for writhing around in feigned agony near the goalmouth when approached by a Celtic supporting pitch-invader who had barely tapped him on/near the collarbone.
Celtic have been fined £25,000, half of which is suspended, for their part in the incident by UEFA.
Celtic has banned the fan from all the club's matches - both home and away - for life.

Don't use video replays to during the game, but use it to catch players dive and cheat, and punish them. Simple as that.

I think the two-match ban could have been lengthier, but I guess you have to draw the line somewhere and in this case, it seems sufficient enough to teach Dida a lesson.
Let's hope he thinks twice before doing something this stupid again.

A two match ban is no punishment - especially as top level players use it a reat period. Crap like that and Rivaldo's 2002 effort should see much bigger repercussions...like a 10 match ban and fined say, three or four weeks pay.
