HardyAlan Curbishley quits as West Ham manager

West Ham manager, Alan Curbishley, has become the first managerial casualty of 2008-09 after quitting as manager of West Ham manager, just three league games into the new season.
The reason why the Englishman chose to leave his role at the club is because he felt that the directors were keeping him in the dark over transfer dealings at Upton Park despite giving the London club their best start to a new season for many, many years.
The feud with the club reached boiling point when Curbs insisted he was overruled when promising defenders Anton Ferdinand and George McCartney were recently sold to Sunderland against his wishes.
According to The Sun newspaper, Curbishley lashed out at the club's hierarchy for undermining his job. He said: "The selection of players is critical to a manager and I had an agreement with West Ham that I alone would determine the composition of the Upton Park squad.
"But the club continued to make significant player decisions without involving me. In the end, such a breach of trust and confidence meant that I had no option but to leave.
"Ferdinand had made it categorically clear to me that he wanted to stay.
"Then I said no other players would be leaving - but McCartney was sold on Monday."ť

Hammers reserve team coach Kevin Keen has been made caretaker boss until a new manager can be found with former fan's favourite Paolo Di Canio, former Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini and Croatia boss Slavio Bilic at the top of the list.
