Dear readers,
It is with pleasure that I am taking over the domain fanfootball.co.uk, and look forward to writing for you in the near future... I will be very happy to read your comments as we proceed, and hope we'll have a long relationship together. A special thanks has to go to Craig Hill for maintaining such a fantastic, and clearly respected blog!
For now, a little about myself...
My name is Ross Carpenter, 30 this December, and a fan of the beautiful game for as long as I care to remember, and certainly for the last 20 years!
I was born in north London, and so can claim to be a countryman of the origin of football- at least, professional football as we know it, I am proud to have been born in the only country that doesn't have to say their country's name when mentioning their Football Association- we are The FA, not the English FA or the British FA. The FA, pure and simple.
I would say with absolute conviction that football is my greatest passion, and I enjoy every aspect from watching and playing, to writing about and recording of statistics!
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me. Additionally if anyone would like me to offer my opinion about a particular football story, please feel free to pop me a message and I'll present my theories.
Many thanks, and take care!
Ross Carpenter

Where in America are you? And what do you think of MLS, particularly with regards to the stream of 'close-to-the-end-of-their-ca reers' players moving across?
Which is your site?

Bizarrely, unless you've paid for Sky TV, we get to watch less Premier League than any country it seems! I went to Iceland, they had English Premier League, and Carling Cup games. I went to Russia, I was able to watch two Man Utd games in a 10 day holiday. Live. On TV. No subscription..
I think, perhaps back in the early 90s they had The Big Match on one of our terrestrial channels. But since then, no free games. Now, we get the Championship games occasionally for free on a terrestrial channel, but this is the 2nd tier of football. Funnily enough, behind the Premier League, the Championship, is the 3rd most watched league in the world- in terms of attendances at the games. Higher than the combined total of all teams in the Spanish La Liga, or Italian Serie A. Only the German Bundesliga has a higher total of matchday attendance!
